Iguanodons and Byronix, sauropoda species larger than the famous T-REX (Tyrannosaurs Rex) lived here over late and cretaceous Jurassic.
Visit to the "Pedra da Mua" classified as natural monument classified since 1996, where there are 38 tracks of sauropoda dinosaurs and two tracks from theropodous dinosaurs.
This place of great interest for studying the Jurassic period – 144 million years ago, has revealed itself of great significance for studying adult and juvenile dinosaurs.
Through the clues and tracks left behind it allowed to understand these great sauropodas gregarious and locomotion behaviors by observing clear evidences of their paths for the first time in Europe.
As such, Espichel Cape has become one of the main scientific studying places for Jurassic and Cretaceous dinosaurs and Pedra da Mua, with its footprints, one of the main points of interest for its study and knowledge.
