The Marine Park

Professor Luiz Saldanha Marine Park is a protected maritime area which is part of the Arrábida Natural Park. Home to over 1400 animal and plant species, its biodiversity is a dream to all ocean lovers. The Marine Park has an area of 53 square kilometers and it extends from the North Coast of Sesimbra and Cabo Espichel on the west up to the sheltered areas of the Sado estuary in the east. With a coastal length of more then 50km of secluded bays and cristal clear beaches, Sesimbra is the perfect spot for your snorkeling experience.

Professor Luiz Saldanha's Marine Park protects the Arrábida marine ecosystem: animal species like seahorses, octopus, crustaceans, and dozens of benthic and pelagic fish. This turns Sesimbra into one of the main diving and snorkeling places in Europe.
